Podcasts

I've done two podcasts in my career. I enjoy the medium.

The Elusive Fan Podcast

My first was in 2007. I created it to promote our book The Elusive Fan. When pitching guests, I remember first describing what a podcast was to a number of them. It felt like very early days. Maybe because it was. None of the episodes are still active online, but here's a screenshot of the old site where they lived.

Counterpoints

The second podcast was Counterpoints, which we launched in 2018. It was a collaboration with Paul Michelman, who at the time was Editor-In-Chief for the MIT Sloan Management Review. Paul was an innovative leader and always seeking to experiment. Like me, he was also passionate about sports. We made a good pair.

We did 24 episodes. Then the pandemic hit and it was more difficult to sustain. Paul left MIT SMR shortly thereafter and the rest was history. It was fun while it lasted.

I may engage in podcasting again, but the field is quite crowded these days. I am more interested in finding and experimenting with emerging media formats.
